The New TeamSnap 2.0 iPhone App is Available — and Awesome!

Over half of our traffic comes from mobile devices, and a significant number of our users interact with TeamSnap almost exclusively from their phones or tablets, so today we’re thrilled to take the wraps off of version 2.0 of our iOS app for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Although we’ve added some great things to the app over the last few months, this release gives team managers and coaches much more power to manage their team right from the game or practice.
Our mantra for this release was “interactivity.” While the previous versions were good at letting you quickly access data, with version 2.0 we’ve made it easy to add and edit data as well. For this release we’ve focused around the core tasks that coaches and managers need to do while on the go. Here’s a rundown of what’s new:
Add and Edit Games and Events
You can now add new games and events, or edit existing events, right from your phone. No need to head back to your computer when that make-up game gets added or your practice time changes.
Add and Edit Rosters
Add new players to the roster as soon as they join the team, or edit all of the information for any of your players (or yourself). Need to add an additional contact person to anyone? It’s a snap.
Set a Roster Photo
Choose a picture from your library, or take a picture from the phone, and set that as a player’s roster photo. This is incredibly handy for the first day of practice, where you can literally snap photos of everyone on the team and upload them to the roster immediately. Learn your teammates’ names on day one!
As soon as the game is over, you can enter the score right from your phone. Or before the game, if you’re feeling clairvoyant.
You can now set or review refreshments. At the store? You can check to see what others are bringing and post what you bought for the game.
Certain notifications that you receive by email (game added or canceled, or reminders to set up your availability) can now also be sent by push notification to your phone. Push notifications are great because they pop up right on your screen without even needing to have the app open. When there’s a last-minute change or an important update, push notifications get that information in front of you faster. Of course, can always turn off notifications if it’s information overload.
Create a New TeamSnap Account or a New Team
You can now sign up for TeamSnap and/or create a new team directly from the app.
We’re super excited for you to try out the new 2.0 version of TeamSnap mobile for iOS and let us know what you think. It’s available now in the App Store or as an upgrade on your device if you already have a previous version. And as always, TeamSnap mobile is free.
Of course, even though we’re excited about this version, we’re not even close to satisfied. Some items that didn’t quite make it into the 2.0 release but that are coming soon include native iPad support (yay!) and Statistics. Stay tuned for version 2.1 in the near future and let us know what else you’d like to see in the mobile apps.
Special Note for Android Users
We are hard at work on version 2.0 of TeamSnap mobile for Android. While iOS is being released first, the Android app is not too far behind and we’ll get it into your hands just as soon as we can.
